Dr Claire Hooper is an ophthalmologist, specialising in medical retina and uveitis.
Dr Claire Hooper graduated from the University of Melbourne, and undertook her ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital. She was awarded a travel scholarship, and undertook a further two years of medical retina and uveitis specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr Hooper has been involved in clinical trials for macular degeneration, published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-written three book chapters. She is also a reviewer for several journals, including Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, Acta Ophthalmologym Ocular Immunology and Inflammation, and the European Journal of Ophthalmology.
Aside from her work at Northern Beaches Retina Cataract Glaucoma, Dr Hooper is also a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Liverpool Hospital, where she particularly enjoys teaching the ophthalmology registrars. She is also an examiner for the Graduate Diploma of Ophthalmic Science at the University of Sydney.
Dr Hooper has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders and inflammatory conditions of the eye (uveitis and scleritis).
